ANODISING - The perfect finish to aluminium

THE PROCESS IN ANODISING

WE GIVE A PERFECT AND RELIABLE FINISH TO YOUR ALUMINUM – FOR USE AROUND THE WORLD.

The term anodising refers to the anodic oxidation of aluminum. This utilises an electrochemical process to produce an extremely dense and hard oxide surface layer, which provides excellent protection against mechanical abrasion and weathering. The metallic characteristics of the aluminum are retained. During this process the surfaces can be colored as desired or required.

At Piesslinger we place emphasis on continuity and quality

How we work

THE AFFECT OF ELECTRICAL CURRENT AND CHEMISTRY.

The aluminum first undergoes a degreasing operation. Depending on the desired surface, this can be followed by chemical processing. This allows gloss, or matt effects to be achieved. The actual anodising is done in dip baths with dilute sulfuric acid, which is constantly cooled to 18 to 20 degrees C. During this process, a DC current is applied with a voltage of 17 to 20 volts. After anodising, the surface can be colored in dye baths.

Finally, it is sealed in a sealing bath. The layer thickness depends on the duration of the anodising process.

LARGE ANODISING PLANTS

The largest anodising lines in Austria are located at Piesslinger! Depending on the desired finish, the processing options go up to:

0
Length in mm
0
Height in mm
0
Depth in mm

Pretreatment

Through various types of pretreatment, Piesslinger is able to decoratively enhance the anodised surface. Pretreatment is in part defined in the standards ÖNORM C 2531 and DIN 17611:

  • A0 = E0 = No pretreatment
  • A1 = E1 = Honed
  • A2 = E2 = Brushed
  • A3 = E3 = Polished
  • A4 = E4 = Ground and brushed
  • A5 = E5 = Ground and polished
  • A6 = E6 = Special etching (matt)
  • A7 = E7 = Chemically polished
  • Blasted
